Where It Began

Long before Durree became a store, it was a craft already living in our family. Our grandfather ran a small workshop in Ghakhar, near Gujranwala, Punjab, where skilled hands under his guidance worked the trade — hand-knotting and finishing rugs the traditional way.

Our father learned the craft working alongside him, absorbing years of inherited skill before stepping out on his own. In 1986, he founded Abid Durree Store, turning that hands-on experience into a business built on one simple belief — that quality should never be compromised for speed or scale.

Today, that legacy continues in our hands. The next generation of our family now runs the store our father built — carrying forward the same values passed down from our grandfather's workshop, through our father, to us.

A Heritage Without Borders

True craftsmanship does not stop at a border, and neither did we. Over four decades, Abid Durree Store has built relationships with master weavers and artisan communities across Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, and Russia — regions where hand-weaving is not a trend, but a living inheritance.

Each piece we bring to you carries the fingerprint of the hands that made it and the region that shaped its pattern — from the bold geometry of Afghan tribal weaves to the intricate detail of Persian knotting traditions. We work directly with artisan families and small workshops, not factories, because the soul of a handmade piece cannot survive mass production.

Much of our collection is entirely hand-knotted, piece by piece, the same way it has been for generations. Alongside this, select pieces in our range are machine-made — chosen and finished with the same care and standard we apply to everything we sell. Whether hand-knotted or machine-crafted, every piece carries the Durree name, and that name means the same thing either way: quality you can trust.

Slow by Choice

In a world of instant everything, we still measure much of our work in weeks, not minutes. A single hand-knotted rug can take days — sometimes weeks — of knotting, dyeing, and finishing before it's ready to leave the loom. We reject shortcuts on our handmade pieces because our customers can tell the difference, and so can we.

This is why every Durree piece — hand-knotted or machine-made — is not just decor. It is a small act of preservation — of a craft passed from our grandfather's workshop, to our father's store in 1986, to the hands running it today.
